across the glass

wandering down
the lane, the wind brushes
my uncombed hair.
a squirrel scurries along
a tree's limb. the flower buds
expand like a newly-born
butterfly opening its wings
for the first time. there is a
euphony of bird songs from
miles away. the cherry sunshine
falls upon my pale skin. nature
is a balm to the wound. i've only
known the living world
as a place where things are
somehow always calm.
